Indonesia, Bhutan, Thailand and India joined a list of world's 10 friendliest countries for tourists at this year's Readers' Choice Awards as voted by 800,000 readers of British magazine Condé Nast Traveller.
Indonesia ranked fourth with a score of 97.5 out of 100 points.
Across Indonesia's vast archipelago, visitors often encounter warm hospitality thanks to the spirit of gotong royong, which emphasizes cooperation and collective well-being. The magazine highlighted community experiences from sharing meals at family-run warungs, talking with village elders, to visiting traditional homes.
Bhutan, where wisitors are traditionally welcomed with open doors, shared meals and tea, ranked fifth with a score of 97.23.
Thailand secured 9th place with a score of 96 points. The Southeast Asian country, often called the "Land of Smiles," attracts solo backpackers, digital nomads and families alike with welcoming atmosphere and friendly locals.
India completed the top 10 with a score of 95.87 points.
Indians often express hospitality through small acts of kindness and a strong sense of community, whether sharing a cup of chai, offering a home-cooked meal or greeting someone with a simple "namaste," the magazine wrote.
